Project Type
Mural
When
January 2024
Role
Artist, Lead designer
Indonesian Cultural Center commissioned the Ratu Adil Gallery to create a mural depicting one of the historical buildings in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Sasana Hinggil Dwi Abad. This mural also depicts the two black stones known as Watu Gilang. The large black stone is called Selo Ageng, while the smaller one is called Selo Sengker. The Javanese believe both to be the seats where Panembahan Senopati and Kanjeng Ratu Kidul sat when they met.
Ratu Adil, with the invaluable assistance of Dewa Ratuwina, embarked on this project. The initial concept for the mural design was a collaborative effort, with Mr. Cary Suprobo, the founder of Sanggar Budaya Nusantara, contributing the idea, which was then refined by the artist. The mural was unveiled during the inauguration of Sanggar Budaya Nusantara - Indonesian Cultural Center, a momentous event graced by The Honorary Mr. Andre Omer Siregar and his wife, along with the esteemed staff of the Consulate General of Indonesia in Houston, and other distinguished guests from the City of Waco and Baylor University.
